Anxiety and Depression: It’s real

Today I will be posting about Mental Health  a very personal topic for me to write about.  I suffer from an anxiety disorder and depression. I’ve been struggling with those issues for about four years now, and it hasn’t been easy. Every day it’s a struggle to go out to school, shop, or to even make a conversation with others. I don’t want to get into detail on why my anxiety and depression started, but I do want to share with you all some tips on how I control my anxiety.  Hopefully if you suffer from this, or know anyone who suffers from any anxiety/mental disorder, this post helps.

Here are some of my own personal tips that help me control my anxiety!

(Take note: I do take medication to help me everyday, sometimes it takes more than medication to help control my anxiety.)

(UPDATE: I stopped taking medications because of my progress two years ago. Now I am able to control my anxiety without medications to help)

  1. Keep your mind busy (after all it’s your mind that Is trying to trick you into thinking your body to go into panic). Writing in a journal,  arts and crafts, exercising, singing, meditating, coloring, painting are some things that can help y0ur mind to relax.

  2. If you fear of going out in public, make yourself go out…at least for about 20 mins. If you let yourself go out little by little you start to feel accomplished knowing you put yourself out there.

  3. When having a panic attack, tell yourself you are okay. For instance this is something I would say to myself “You are okay, breathe. Nothing is going to happen to you.” I would also count to 10 and take deep and slow breaths.

  4. This is very important …GET SOME SLEEP. Without sleep you feel like a robot and you won’t function properly. Eight hours of sleep is best.

  5. Talk about your feelings to someone. It could be a friend or a family member. It’s important to let go of so many feelings. It’s okay to cry! If you don’t feel comfortable talking to someone you know, seek help from a professional.

  6. Eliminate all the negativity in your life. If you’re surrounded by debbie downers, cut them as much as you can out of your life. You don’t need negative energy around you.

If you know anyone who is suffering from any kind of mental help please know that you’re not alone. It may feel like it, but you are not alone, you are loved and you are important and worthy enough to find happiness.

I know this site is dedicated to beauty, entertainment and so on…but when we say beauty, it’s beyond the makeup. We also want to focus on inner beauty. Taking care of your mind and soul are very important.
